Nifty ends at 11,300, Sensex gains 558 pts led by auto, IT, metal stocks

Benchmark indices reversed previous session losses and ended near the day high level with Nifty at 11,300 backed by the buying seen in the stocks of auto, pharmaceutical, IT and metal.

The Sensex was up close to 558.22 points or 1.47 percent at 38492.95 and the Nifty was up 168.70 or 1.52 percent at 11300.50.

Approximately 1315 shares have risen, 1300 shares have decreased and 151 shares remain unchanged.

UltraTech Cement, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tata Motors, TCS and Grasim Industries were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Bharti Infratel, ICICI Bank, ONGC, Nestle and Asian Paints.

All the sectoral indices ended in the green. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices rose over 0.5 percent each.
